Part-time position: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (8-12 hrs / week)
Start date: As Soon As Possible / February 1, 2025
Salary range: ($8.00 -12.00/hr)
The Greater Augusta Arts Council is seeking a motivated, creative, and dynamic Seasonal Assistant for Spring 2025. The individual selected for this opportunity will work closely with Arts Council staff under the direct supervision of Gallery & Public Art Director – Heather Dunaway. Seasonal Assistant responsibilities include building a digital archive of Arts Council articles, photos, and memorabilia, helping with gallery installations, coordinating events such as ribbon cuttings and receptions, content creation for our monthly newsletter, attending internal and external meetings, site visits, as well as general office tasks. Get to know the arts community firsthand through this seasonal opportunity with the oldest Arts Council in Augusta’s River Region!
Seasonal employment for this role will end on May 9, 2025. We require a minimum of 8 hours a week with flexible scheduling during business hours. This role is open to all but would be great for a student seeking arts professional experience!
The Arts Council will provide a workspace, laptop, and Arts Council email address. This role may require some local travel. Applicants must have a valid Driver’s License and mode of transportation
Position Overview:
The Seasonal Assistant provides essential supplemental support in tasks such as creating and organizing a catalog of historic Arts Council film photographs, articles and memorabilia as part of our organization’s preservation efforts, as well as creating a digital archive through Google Drive. In addition to this much needed task, the Seasonal Assistant will help in gallery installations and receptions, event management, content creation for our newsletter and social media, and general office support tasks such as filing and organizing supplies. This position will have some weekends and evenings required.
Responsibilities:
- Archive:
- Organizing and cataloging film photographs, video footage, news/magazine articles and memorabilia.
- Scanning all documents and photographs to create a digital archive via Google Drive.
- Gallery:

- Assist Gallery Director in Gallery Installations and Receptions
- Install artwork via our Walker Display System in the Augusta & Co. and City Galleries
- Assist in the set-up and management of art exhibition receptions for the Augusta & Co. and City Galleries.

- Events:
- Assist in the day-to-day tasks of organizing our events, such as the WetPaint Party and Art Sale
- Delivering sponsor packets
- making table top displays
- Work events where needed
- Help set-up event
- Check-in guests
- Manage volunteers
- Help with social media
- Help in break-down of event
- Assist in the day-to-day tasks of organizing our events, such as the WetPaint Party and Art Sale
- Content Creation:
- Write a monthly blog post about your archive discoveries and events experiences to be featured in the Arts Council’s newsletter and social media.
- Office:
- Assist in minor day-to-day office tasks
- Filing, organizing, etc.

Qualifications and Skills:
- High School or College Student, 16 years or older, or recent graduate.
- Experience in archiving or creating a digital catalog not required, but a plus.
- Cheerful and Engaging: This role involves some public interaction. This role requires someone who is outgoing, engaging, and upbeat.
- Passionate about the Arts: A deep love for the arts and a genuine excitement for promoting creativity and cultural experiences.
- Event Experience: Experience in event planning and coordination, with a knack for creating memorable and engaging experiences.
- Organized: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks with ease.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Office applications, with a willingness to learn new software systems, including programs such as WordPress, WuFoo, Little Green Light, Constant Contact, OutLook, Google Drive, META/ other Social Media platforms, etc. Previous experience in these programs is preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License: Some driving may be needed.
