Dates (preferably Medjool, but any big and soft dates will work)
Creamy peanut butter
Mini pretzels (recommend some extra for backups)
Mini Chocolate Chips
Optional: Pecan halves
Instructions:
Slice each date in half, lengthwise, and remove the pit and any hard pieces.
Break the pretzels in half then remove the inner pieces, so just the half-heart shape remains. Poke the pretzel halves into the date, 4 on each side for a total of 8 legs. They should feel decently secure.
Carefully spoon 1-2 teaspoons of Peanut Butter into each date half.
Add the chocolate chip eyes. (Optional add a pecan half on top of the peanut butter)
Place in a sealed container and refrigerate for a couple of hours or serve immediately.
Enjoy (but keep away from the Arachnophobes)
BONUS RECIPE!! (Sweet and Sour)
Trick or Treat Wings
Ingredients:
½ cup Low-sodium soy sauce
1 Tbsp Brown sugar
1 Tbsp Lemon juice
1 Tbsp Hot sauce (Siracha is my preferred)
1 Tbsp Sesame oil
1 tsp Hoisin sauce
2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Fresh minced ginger (or ½ tsp dried ginger)
Instructions:
Mix the marinade ingredients together in a large ziplock or airtight container.
Add the wings to the marinade and set in refrigerator for 6-12h (or until you lose your patience)
Grill or Bake your desired way. Baste with the leftover marinade throughout cooking the wings.
