Jessye Norman School for the Arts receives $10,000 grant from NEA for Public Pianos project and free concert series!
The Jessye Norman School for the Arts recently announced that they were approved by the National Endowment for the Arts for a $10,000 “Challenge America” Grant! This grant will be used to support the school’s newest public art project, which involves the installation of decorated street pianos throughout downtown, as well as a series of sidewalk concerts. Congratulations to Jessye Norman School for the Arts for the award! We can’t wait to see these musical public art pieces in downtown Augusta. Learn more at JNSA.org.

Support student artists tomorrow, 11:30-1pm at the Municipal Building for a reception – Butler High School AP Art Students show
Join the Greater Augusta Arts Council on Wednesday, February 28 11:30-1 for a reception celebrating the students whose work is currently featured in the Municipal Building Gallery. The students featured are part of the Butler High School AP Art Program taught by Tiffany Weser Chrisman, who was recently awarded the Golden Apple for her excellence in teaching. She will be presenting at the National Arts Education Association Conference in March and taking some of these students with her. Come help us support these talented young artists and send them off to their conference experience!
Refreshments will be served. Free to the public.

Thank you to everyone who came out to this year’s Wet Paint Party and Art Sale, held Saturday, February 24! We had a fantastic time mingling with fellow arts supporters, shopping for amazing local art, and checking out rockstar fashion by Vintage Ooollee!
We especially want to thank our sponsors, planning committee, Vintage Ooollee and models, volunteers, the 70 local artists who participated in the sale, and, of course, everyone who purchased new local art! We can’t wait for next year!

Show your support for the Signal Corps Band at Fort Gordon! Sign the petition today!
Since the Arts Council started the petition to show our community’s support for the Signal Corps Band at Fort Gordon, almost 500 people have signed. We believe the Band is an important part of the Augusta Arts community and we will share the results of the petition with our lawmaker and city leaders.
As one signer posted to the petition comments: “Bolstering Morale is indeed a very important part of taking care of the troops.” Now, the community has an opportunity to bolster the morale of the service people in the Signal Corps Band and share their importance to us as a community! Submit Exhibition Proposals for the Municipal Building Gallery
The Greater Augusta Arts Council has opened proposals for the Municipal Building Gallery for the 2018 and 2019 calendar year. Do you have a concept for a solo show, group exhibition, historic display or other type of exhibition you would like to show in the gallery space at 535 Telfair St.? Submit your proposal to the Greater Augusta Arts Council. A committee made up of artists, city representatives and community members will review the submissions for scheduling. LEARN MORE.
