New Sculpture Installation of “Follow Your Path” at Phinizy

In April 2026 a vibrant new addition to the public art landscape has arrived at Phinizy Center for Water Sciences and Nature Park. The installation of “Follow Your Path,” a steel sculpture created by artist team Wesley L. Stewart and Colleen Beyer-Stewart of September Art Studios in Augusta, Georgia, is nearing completion. A scheduled dual ribbon cutting ceremony for this work as well as the “School of Fish” sculpture by Da Vinci Studios artist Przemyslaw “PK” Kordys.

The colorful and whimsical work features more than nine intricately cut steel panels representing flora and fauna native to Phinizy Swamp. Among the species depicted are Passionflower, Trumpet Creeper, Box Turtle, Crappie, Bass, Great Blue Heron, Dragonfly, and Alligator. Each form has been thoughtfully simplified to create a bold and engaging visual experience, allowing the imagery to resonate with visitors while complementing the surrounding natural environment. The sculpture’s vibrant palette draws attention without detracting from the beauty of the landscape.

Strategically installed in a high-traffic area frequently visited by school groups, “Follow Your Path” serves as a welcoming landmark at the entrance to the Butler Creek Trail. Its placement enhances the visitor experience and contributes to the park’s growing public art trail, offering an additional point of discovery and reflection for guests of all ages.

The project was facilitated by the Greater Augusta Arts Council, with generous funding provided by the Georgia Rehabilitation Institute, and completed in partnership with Phinizy Center for Water Sciences & Nature Park. This is the fifth installation of accessible public artwork funded by GRI in partnership with the Arts Council and Phinizy.
