Artist Reception for Randy Akers tomorrow, May 1, 11:30-1pm at the City Gallery

Join us for a reception celebrating the work of Randy Akers at the City Gallery, tomorrow, May 1, 11:30-1pm at the Augusta Municipal Building at 535 Telfair St.

Akers, whose work made up the first solo artist show at the City Gallery, is a visual artist based in Skidaway Island. He has shown at the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, University of New Mexico’s Harwood Foundation, Philadelphia Art Museum, Anchorage Art Museum, University of North Carolina, Valdosta University Art Museum, Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, LaGrange Art Museum, Ormond Memorial Art Museu, and Maryland Federation of Art, among others.

Yarn Art Installation by Hooked on Augusta up on Broad Street now!

Have you been downtown since Saturday afternoon? If so, you may have already seen it – the yarn art installation by Hooked on Augusta is up!

A dedicated team of volunteer crochet and knit artists, Hooked on Augusta worked tirelessly on Saturday to bring an Enchanted Forest themed installation to Broad St.

Make sure to go see it soon, the art will be up until July 6-7! Take photos and share them on your social media!

May 1 – Public Art at Hillside Park

The Harrisburg Neighborhood residents who live near Hillside Park, located at 2101 Telfair Street are seeking to spark positive community change through art at their beloved neighborhood park. Artists can submit concepts to enhance the park with public art.

The call for artists will close May 1 at 10am.

May 10 – Arts in the Heart of Augusta Fine Arts and Crafts Market

VISUAL ARTISTS: Applications are open now for the 2019 Arts in the Heart of Augusta Fine Arts and Crafts Market! Apply to participate in a Sunshine Artist’s top-60 rated event, right in the heart of downtown Augusta!

This year’s Arts in the Heart of Augusta will take place September 20-22.

The applications for the Fine Arts and Crafts Market close May 10.

May 15 – “Idea Generated Projects” for Westobou Festival


Via Westobou.com – “Westobou is seeking proposals for three different projects (listed below). Individuals, groups and organizations are invited to submit proposals to one or more of these projects. Those chosen will be sponsored up to $1,000 (per project) to implement the project during Westobou Festival, October 2-6, 2019. Selected projects will be promoted and documented by Westobou. If selected, money will be distributed prior to the Festival to allow sufficient time for preparation/completion.
