Miller Theater Wins Statewide  Preservation Award 

The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation just announced their annual award winners, which includes Augusta’s very own Miller Theater! The Miller Theater received the Marguerite Williams Award, presented annually to the project that has had the greatest impact on preservation in the state. The announcement press release stated, “The Miller Theater was recognized for its innovative use of virtually every preservation technique and program to achieve this astounding rehabilitation.” The building also received an award for Excellence in Rehabilitation. Monica Campana of Atlanta’s “Living Walls,” to present May 24

The Morris Museum of Art will be hosting Monica Campana, executive director of Atlanta’s “Living Walls” program, as part of their Art Now Contemporary Art Lecture Series on Thursday, May 24. Learn about this revolutionary public art program in our region!

May 24, 6-7pm. Located in the Morris Museum of Art, at 1 Tenth St. Admission is free. Light refreshments.

Nominate a leader in the arts for a 2018 Arts Award!

Nominations are open for the Annual Arts Awards, a program by the Greater Augusta Arts Council to recognize leadership and excellence in the arts. Six categories honor the different aspects of a thriving arts community:

Individual Artist, Arts Professional/administrator, Volunteer, Media, Sponsor, and new this year, the Kath Girdler Engler Public Art Award.

The Deadline for nominations is NEXT Thursday, May 10th at 5pm. The Awards Dinner will take place June 21, with tickets available in May.

Arts in the Heart of Augusta Applications Deadlines coming soon

Applications to participate in this year’s Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival are open now! The deadline to apply as an artist in the Fine Arts and Crafts Market is coming soon – May 10. Make sure to note these important deadlines-
