Remembering Ann Johnson

“There is an art to community-building and good citizenship.

Annie Johnson was a virtuoso.”

Augusta Chronicle Editorial Staff, June 29
Yesterday, the funeral for Ann Johnson, retired executive assistant to the President of Paine College,  was held at Paine College’s Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel. Ann Johnson, one of Augusta’s most enthusiastic supporters of the arts, passed away June 29. She made quite an impact in the community, as evidenced by the standing-room only service filled with loved ones, artists, community members and city officials. She will be greatly missed in Augusta.
Her family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, Paine College, the Augusta Chapter of The Links, Inc. or the transportation ministry of Elim Baptist Church.  Click here to read more at Chronicle.augusta.com
