THE FOX THEATRE INSTITUTE TO PRESENT IMPERIAL THEATRE WITH  HISTORIC PRESERVATION GRANT

Theatre to receive over $42,000 to fund preservation & repairs

Via the Imperial Theater – “During a ceremony in front of the Imperial Theatre to be held on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at 3PM, representatives from  The Fox Theatre Institute (FTI), a division of Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, Inc., will present the Imperial Theatre with a check representing an Historic Preservation Grant for $42,258.00, for the repair of  damaged plaster reliefs above the Box-seats and the stage proscenium.”  Great work by the Imperial Theatre and congratulations on receiving this generous grant!

Reception this Thursday, 11:30-1pm for “Fusion: A Celebration of Modalities”  at the City Gallery

Join us this Thursday to see the artwork and meet the artists featured in “Fusion: A Celebration of Modalities” currently showing at the City Gallery at the Municipal Building.

The reception will be 11:30-1, it is free and open to the public. The City Gallery is located in the lobby of the Augusta Richmond County Municipal Building at 535 Telfair St. Light refreshments will be served.

Two Augustans receive national recognition- Daon Drisdom & Connie Corzilius Spasser  – Congratulations!


Congratulations to two very special Augustans who have received recognition for their talent on a national level!
 
Daon Drisdom, the music instructor for the Jessye Norman School of Arts, was accepted into the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music. A benefit recital will be hosted tonight at 7pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd to celebrate.
 
Connie Corzilius Spasser, a writer based here in Augusta, received the First Place prize in fiction from the Women’s National Book Association 2018 Writing Contest for her work, For Want of Other Worlds.
 
We are very proud of both of these talented Augusta artists! Congratulations!

Aspirations for Artists returns next Tuesday, June 12

Aspirations for Artists is back with another Summer Series! Learn what it takes to create solid foundation for your arts business. While the series covers the same topics as 2017’s summer series, participants are encourage to attend again as there will be updated information for 2018.

Expert speakers will present on each topic and answer any questions attendees may have. These sessions are open to artists of all disciplines and experience levels, and will offer valuable advice! See below for the workshop schedule and descriptions of each session. Free for members of the Greater Augusta Arts Council, $5 for non-members (cash or card at the door)

June 12 – Setting up an LLC with Lee Hamil Little

July 10 – Insurance for Artists with Preston Moss

August 14 – Navigating Taxes as an Artist with Summer Bell

Artists needed to share talents with aspiring students

The Richmond Country Board of Education is hosting its first ever Fine Arts Summer Enrichment Camp at Laney High School.

This camp, open to students from 3rd  to 8th Grades is looking for Professional Artists to share their story with the student campers. Dates are June 11-21.
